Gun owners' rights violated in Christian camper murder case

Kevin at The Smallest Minority has important things to say about gun registration.

In the recent killing of two Christian campers, the police have nothing to go on except a bullet, so they're going fishing. They've searched the local gun registration database and are knocking on the door of everyone who has the make of gun that matches the bullet. That's such a huge violation of rights and such a bad precedent to set. I heard about this earlier as well, and I'm pretty furious. So are the owners:

The other man whose guns were taken said he, too, feels like his rights were violated.

"This is the kind of stuff that makes gun owners jump up and down," said the man, who spoke on condition of anonymity. "It's like having the Wehrmacht knock on your door."

Wizbang: Media Take on Kerry's Midnight Hissy Fit. "I'm not the only one who thought Kerry blew it the other night." Via IP. Kerry's "midnight speech" was a big mistake. I wrote some about it earlier.

Update: One of the things that struck me while watching Kerry's speech is what a contrast it made to Bush's. Bush's speech was well-prepared, and given in well-lit Madison Square Garden surrounded by thousands of cheering supporters, while Kerry's speech was in the dark, ill-prepared and without focus, and there seemed to be a few handfuls of people there. Bush spoke about grand visions of Liberty while Kerry whined.

What made the biggest difference though was the setting. Bush in the light and Kerry in the dark. It was jarring to go from watching Bush to watching Kerry. The whole thing was so foolish for Kerry to do.
