Sounds to me to be a lot like Docker's stain-proof khakis. It may be the same technology just licensed by Gap. Or it may be a rip-off of the same technology, but that type of stuff has been out for about a year.

Dockers stuff has been out for a couple years, and I think it was adapted from the treated microfiber tech that's been used in jackets for about 6 or 8 years.

Liz Claiborne, Hanes, Pendleton, and Old Navy (which is owned by GAP) also use Teflon treated material in certain products.

How do you wash them then?

That's what I was thinking!

There are some very specific washing instructions for those clothes, actually. I did some research on the web, and it looks like they stay cleaner longer, but when you do wash them you have to wash them on the gentle cycle in cold/warm water only. You can dry them in the dryer, but you can't use fabric softener or it will deteriorate the Teflon treatment on the fabric. The clothing is only to be pressed/ironed every fifth wash and no more for the same reason.

Also interesting, they don't have stress-free clothes for women!
