Nothing ever works right

So, tonight I tried to make use of my Radeon 7500's TV out feature. I thought it would be a great way to play DVDs while I do other stuff, without taking up screen space on my monitor. Unfortunately, while it was cool to see Windows windows on my TV screen, that's about as much as I could do with it.

For some reason, the video card only provides a video overlay on the primary monitor, so I couldn't use it with the TV. Not only that, but when I was trying to play DVDs on it the TV kept getting fuzzy and dark for like 10 seconds at a time. I saw docs somewhere that blamed it on my VCR, and mentioned something about Macrovision.

Anyway, thanks for nothing ATI.

Macrovision is a copyprotection scheme that makes it impossible to use your vcr to record from your dvd player. Try connecting it directly to your TV instead. That should work. Blame the Movie industry, not ATI Smiley winking

I have an old TV that only has cable input. I might be able to split it somehow, but even then I wouldn't be able to watch DVDs because the card won't do a video overlay on the TV. Frustrating.
