Code Reading looks like a fantastic book. I happened to see it when I was in Barnes & Noble tonight, and I flipped through it for a few minutes. Check it out.

Code Complete : Probably the best book on software development techniques is "Code Complete" (a bit dated but the techniques are timeless), not a language specific book, but very insightful into the art of coding, dont let the microsoft press publisher fool you (nothing micorsoft is in it), see the book pool http://www.bookpool.com/.x/rns9oyxmkr/sm/1556154844
